SIMPLY LOVE
“Simply Love” is a new directorial work of mine inspired by the great stories of Xianzu Tang and William Shakespeare, specifically the Chinese and English classics, “Peony Pavilion” and “Romeo and Juliet.” The goal is not to recreate a traditional production but to establish a connection between the two cultures and their different souls, sharing the universal theme of first love. The Nothingness Theater aims to create a space that reflects the multiple and disconnected languages, as well as the fragmentation of logic over time and space. Instead of a linear narrative, the focus is on the unfolding of experiences on stage.
Reconnecting in the Age of Media Fragmentation
Modern media is reshaping our lives—altering how we think, perceive identity, and even how we feel. In this transformation, traditional connections are breaking down, leaving us fragmented. Yet, within this chaos, simply love emerges as a primal, almost theatrical way to reconnect—raw and emotional, yet tangled in complexity.
Media distorts reality by fragmenting information, saturating every aspect of life. We rarely speak or act with true intention; instead, we make functional, reactive choices. This widening gap between our true selves and mediated existence fuels anxiety.
Now, a critical question arises: Should we cling to “classic” authenticity—our original identity—or accept that evolution may turn us into secondhand versions of ourselves, built on lies?
