Fengling Productions is proud to share that our Artistic Director, Farooq Chaudhry OBE, has joined the UK Prime Minister–led delegation to China, travelling alongside senior British business and cultural leaders.

"Travelling with Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and a delegation of Britain’s top business and cultural leaders, I see a pivotal moment. Our aim for a more ‘sophisticated relationship’ with China is, in truth, about taking the handbrake off, allowing for an open and respectful dialogue grounded in a simple truth: our differences are tiny compared to our similarities.

This resonates deeply with me. As a Pakistani immigrant who grew up in the UK, I know the sting of being told, ‘I will only accept you if you see the world as I do.’ True belonging is never conditional. That is the spirit we must bring to engaging with China, one of humanity’s most continuous and creative civilizations.

For twenty-five years, I have worked alongside China’s finest dance talents and companies. It has taught me that true prosperity is found not just in economic growth, but in mutual flourishing when shared talents, stories, and perspectives deepen our understanding and respect.

Let us move beyond mere transaction. A collaborative spirit creates a more fascinating framework: economies enriched through the co-creation of resonant cultural experiences and products that will shape our collective future. This is the path to a richer, more respectful world."
