Building Bridges at HKPAX 2026
In October, Fengling Productions travelled to Hong Kong for the Hong Kong Performing Arts Expo (HKPAX) 2026. Over five days, from 9 to 13 October, the Expo welcomed more than 2,000 delegates from 60 countries and regions, alongside over 39,000 audience members and participants. The programme included more than 100 performances, showcases, pitching sessions, dialogues and networking events.
The Expo opened with a welcome address from Mr Kenneth Fok Kai-kong, Chairman of the Hong Kong Arts Development Council. What followed was a week of conversation, discovery and exchange among artists, presenters, producers and cultural leaders from around the world.

Presenting The Bridge
A highlight of our week was presenting The Bridge 《桥》, our co-production with Shenzhen Opera and Dance Theatre, at a [pitching session / showcase]. Subtitled A Bridge Between Worlds, the work explores the idea of 天人合一, the harmony between humanity and nature. Sharing it with an international audience of presenters and peers gave us valuable feedback and opened new conversations about the work’s future life on stage.

Reconnecting and making new friends
HKPAX was also a chance to reconnect with long-standing partners and to meet new ones. Many of our most meaningful collaborations began with conversations at gatherings like this. We came away with new contacts, fresh ideas and a renewed sense of what international partnership can look like.

Bringing it home
For a UK-based organisation like Fengling Productions, being present at global platforms such as HKPAX matters. It reflects our openness to ideas and perspectives from beyond our own borders, and our commitment to bringing them back to the UK. Through this kind of exchange, we can continue to nurture artistry, talent and creative practice here at home, and help audiences in the UK experience work shaped by dialogue across cultures.
We would like to thank the HKPAX team for a brilliant week, and everyone who took the time to meet with us. We look forward to building on these connections and to returning for HKPAX 2028.
